Colfax, Iowa, located 20 miles East of Des Moines on Interstate I-80, is a growing community with much to offer in small town living.  Many of Colfax's residents are employed in Des Moines or nearby Newton.  Colfax is home to such historical sites as the birthplace of author James Norman Hall and The Historic Hotel Colfax, which is now Teen Challenge of the Midlands, a  Christian based drug and alcohol abuse center.
Recent development projects include many new businesses @ the I-80 interchange and a new housing development south of town.
